A baby bottle nipple is one of the most demanding parts in liquid silicone molding. It is thin-walled, deeply undercut, and every surface goes directly into an infant's mouth. The wall must be soft enough for natural sucking yet strong enough to resist tearing and biting. The vent and flow hole must be dimensionally repeatable, or feeding rate varies from bottle to bottle. And because the part is transparent, any flash line, gate mark, or flow mark is immediately visible to the consumer.

Compression molding and conventional injection leave flash around the flange and gate vestige on the tip, both of which must be trimmed by hand. Manual deflashing on a food-contact infant product adds labor cost, adds contamination risk, and can never be fully consistent.

TYM's solution molds the nipple in a 6-cavity cold-runner mold on a horizontal LSR injection molding machine, with automatic mold ejection that releases finished parts without an operator touching the mold.
